The "Right-to-Work" Scam

Corporate Interests Push "Right-to-Work" Scam That Threatens Our Opportunity to Prosper

Michigan Republicans passed a so-called "right-to-work" law that undermines the freedom to have a union in what was once one of the strongest union states. Working people, unions and allies are mobilizing to stop the spread of the law, which lowers living standards for workers and threatens collective bargaining.

Know the facts. The "Right-to-Work" Scam doesn't create jobs. It turns good jobs into bad jobs.

  • Workers in so-called right-to-work states make about $5,300 less per year.
  • In states that have fallen for the "right-to-work" scam, fewer workers are free to join unions, slashing retirement contributions and crippling pensions.
  • The "right-to-work" scam puts lives at risk: workplace deaths are 36 percent more common in states with "right-to-work" laws.
